New Delhi, June 29: Uddhav Thackeray, the leader of Shiv Sena (UBT), has sparked a fierce backlash from BJP leaders after referring to the party as the ‘Babar Janata Party’ and making comments regarding the Ram Temple. BJP MLA Ram Kadam, national spokesperson Guru Prakash, MP Sanjay Jaiswal, and Shiv Sena’s legislative council member Manisha Kayande criticized Thackeray, labeling his remarks as inappropriate and stemming from political desperation.
In Mumbai, BJP MLA Ram Kadam targeted Thackeray, suggesting he should first reflect on the political alliances he has formed. Kadam noted that Thackeray has allied with those who questioned the Ram Temple and attempted to create legal obstacles for its construction. He pointed out that Thackeray has partnered with individuals who have dismissed the existence of Lord Ram, and during his tenure, temples were closed while other activities were permitted. Kadam asserted that Thackeray has no right to lecture the BJP on Hindutva, especially now that he seems to remember it only after his political relevance has waned.
BJP MP Sanjay Jaiswal dismissed Thackeray’s statements, stating that he has become entirely irrelevant in today’s political landscape, with many leaders and representatives distancing themselves from him. Jaiswal attributed Thackeray’s comments to political despair, suggesting that neither the public nor the media should take them seriously.
Manisha Kayande, a member of the Shiv Sena legislative council, also disagreed with Thackeray’s remarks. She emphasized that as a former Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Thackeray should refrain from making such comments.
BJP national spokesperson Guru Prakash stated that Thackeray lacks the moral authority to question the BJP and its ideological foundation. He reminded that Thackeray was once willing to form a government with the Congress party, which had previously cast doubt on the existence of Lord Ram in 2007. In his ambition to become Chief Minister, Thackeray allied with parties opposed to the BJP’s ideological stance. He highlighted that generations of the RSS, VHP, and BJP have made sacrifices for the Ram Temple movement and Hindutva, asserting that the BJP does not need validation of its faith and commitment from anyone.
