
Mumbai, April 22: Sharad Pawar, the president of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), will not be able to cast his vote in the upcoming by-election for the Baramati assembly seat. This announcement was made by Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, Sunetra Pawar, on social media.
In her post on the platform X, Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar stated that due to health complications, Sharad Pawar will be unable to participate in the voting for the Baramati assembly by-election. She emphasized that his blessings are invaluable for both her and the people of Baramati.
Sunetra Pawar remarked on Sharad Pawar’s significant contributions to the development of Baramati, Maharashtra, and the nation, calling his guidance inspirational. She expressed confidence that the people of Baramati would respond enthusiastically to his appeal, as they are committed to the ideas of development, which will continue to be a priority in the future.
She also extended her heartfelt prayers for Sharad Pawar’s swift recovery.
Previously, Sharad Pawar had written a letter to the local populace, indicating his intention to vote in Baramati. However, due to his deteriorating health, he was admitted to a hospital. He assured that he would return to the public soon after recovering.
In his message, he noted that he has consistently voted in Baramati since his first election in 1967, but this time, health issues prevented him from doing so. He expressed his deep sadness over the situation, stating that he had wanted to participate in the by-election but was advised against traveling by his doctors, thus unable to exercise his voting rights.
He expressed hope that the voters and supporters of Baramati would understand his circumstances.
Furthermore, he announced that his party has decided to support Sunetra Ajit Pawar in this by-election, dedicating this decision as a tribute to the late Ajit Pawar. He urged the voters of Baramati to cast their votes in favor of Sunetra Ajit Pawar and view this decision as a tribute.
