Patna, October 7 (Daily Kiran) : In Patna, on October 7, the Grand Alliance organized a protest march in response to the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the Special Intensive Review (SIR) process. This demonstration, called by the India Alliance, was led by Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly.
The rally took place at the Income Tax Roundabout, where members from various parties, including the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), CPI(ML), and CPI, gathered to voice their concerns. Protesters vocally opposed the Election Commission and the central government, burning effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Gyanesh Kumar.
During the march, participants raised questions regarding the functioning of the Election Commission. Leaders of the India Alliance accused the Commission of operating under pressure from the central government. They reiterated their objections to the SIR initiated in Bihar and demanded greater transparency in the electoral process. Slogans such as “Gyanesh Bhagao, Loktantra Bachao” (Remove Gyanesh, Save Democracy) and “Vote Chor Gaddi Chhod” (Vote Thieves, Leave the Throne) echoed through the streets.
Ajaz Ahmed, spokesperson for the RJD in Bihar, noted that similar marches occurred in all 534 blocks across the state on Wednesday. He announced plans for another march on October 8, led by Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, from Shaheed Smarak to Raj Bhavan. Additionally, various component parties of the India Alliance will hold protests and demonstrations at district headquarters.
The movement aims to continue addressing issues related to the electoral process and the SIR, with leaders and activists from different parties expected to participate in the upcoming events.
