Patna, June 20: The Economic Offenses Unit (EOU) of Bihar Police has intensified monitoring and security measures ahead of the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21. To ensure a fair and transparent examination process, the agency has established a special monitoring cell and is keeping a close watch on several suspects.
According to the EOU, 135 individuals identified in previous competitive exam fraud cases, including cheating, paper leaks, impersonation, and other irregularities, are under strict surveillance.
The EOU has issued a public advisory urging candidates, parents, and guardians to remain vigilant against fraudsters and misinformation campaigns during the exam period.
Officials have warned that cybercriminals and anti-social elements may attempt to deceive students. They could use fake phone calls, messages, emails, and social media posts, claiming to provide question papers, answer keys, or guaranteed success in exchange for money.
To combat this, the EOU is closely monitoring major digital platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Telegram, WhatsApp, and X.
Investigators fear that fraudsters may spread fake question papers, fabricated answer keys, or misleading information, aiming to deceive candidates and undermine the integrity of the examination process.
The EOU advises anyone receiving calls, messages, or social media communications claiming to offer exam papers or answer sheets to report them immediately to the nearest police station or cyber police station.
Candidates and the public are also urged not to share unverified information or social media posts related to the exam. Officials have warned that spreading false information could cause panic among students and may lead to legal action.
If any online content claims that question papers or answer keys have been leaked, individuals are advised to save details such as screenshots, post links, URLs, and account information, and share them with law enforcement agencies for investigation and action.
For immediate reporting of suspicious activities, the EOU has provided a mobile/WhatsApp number ‘9031829067’ and the National Cyber Crime Helpline number ‘1930.’
The EOU stated that maintaining the credibility of competitive examinations is a top priority. Special vigilance is being exercised at sensitive locations, examination centers, and online platforms to prevent any attempts to disrupt the examination process.
Officials have appealed to candidates to rely solely on information issued by authorized agencies and examination officials, avoiding rumors, false promises, or scams.
Additionally, the unit has warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found involved in disrupting the examination or engaging in related fraud.
