Patna, March 24: Anant Singh, the legislator from the Mokama region in Bihar, was released from jail on Monday evening. Following his release, Singh declared his innocence regarding the murder of Dularchand Yadav, claiming he was wrongfully implicated. He reiterated on Tuesday that he would not contest in the upcoming elections.
On his way to Barh, Singh was accompanied by a convoy of vehicles. In a media interaction, he stated that he was approximately four kilometers away from the incident when it occurred. “We are innocent; we have been framed in this case,” he asserted.
Dularchand Yadav was murdered during last year’s Bihar Assembly elections, leading to Singh’s arrest. After receiving bail from the Patna High Court, he was released from jail after nearly four months. His supporters expressed immense enthusiasm upon his release. During the media interaction on Tuesday, Singh once again confirmed his decision not to run in the elections.
When asked if his son would contest, he replied, “He will go to the public. If he serves the people, then he will run.” He acknowledged the excitement among his supporters, emphasizing that their enthusiasm would remain high. Previously, during the Rajya Sabha elections, Singh had announced while in jail that he would not contest any further elections. “This is my last term. My children will now take forward our political legacy,” he stated.
He also mentioned that he would not participate in elections if Nitish Kumar is not around. The political landscape in Bihar is now abuzz with discussions about when Anant Singh’s son will enter politics. Singh’s announcement of not contesting has stirred significant political activity in Mokama.
