Jamui, September 21 (Daily Kiran) : The Bihar Women’s Commission has taken swift action following the release of a disturbing video that allegedly shows a minor student being assaulted in Jamui district. The incident, which involved harassment and physical violence, has prompted the Commission to call for an immediate investigation.
In a letter to the Director General of Police in Bihar, the Commission has demanded that a First Information Report (FIR) be filed without delay. They have also requested that the identities of the accused be established based on the viral footage, leading to their prompt arrest. The Commission emphasized the need for a thorough and timely investigation into the matter.
According to the Commission’s statement, reports indicate that a group of individuals surrounded the young girl and her male companion during the night. Allegations suggest that the girl was forcibly pulled and subjected to inappropriate behavior, while her companion was also reportedly assaulted.
Vijaya Rahatkar, the Commission’s chairperson, insisted that immediate action be taken. She has called for the identification and arrest of all involved, highlighting the urgency of the situation. The Commission has also mandated that the police provide a detailed report of their actions within seven days.
Additionally, the National Women’s Commission has instructed that the victim receive necessary protection, legal assistance, and psychological counseling. They have also called for legal measures to prevent further sharing of the offensive video on social media.
The Bihar State Women’s Commission has echoed these concerns, sending a letter to the Superintendent of Police in Jamui, urging prompt action. In this correspondence, they noted that the incident reportedly occurred on the evening of September 19, as the 10th-grade student was returning from coaching classes.
Both commissions have firmly stated that compromising the dignity, safety, and privacy of women and girls is unacceptable at any level.
