Bengaluru, September 21 (Daily Kiran) : A special court in Bengaluru has sentenced Huzair Farhan Beg, also known as Huzair, to six years of rigorous imprisonment and fined him ₹58,000 for his role in a conspiracy linked to the banned terrorist organization, Islamic State (ISIS). This verdict was delivered on September 21, 2026.
The case originally began when the Karnataka police registered a complaint on September 19, 2022. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) subsequently took over the investigation, uncovering an ISIS module operating covertly in Tirthahalli, a town in the Shivamogga district of Karnataka.
Investigators found that the accused were being guided by an online handler known as “Colonel,” later identified as Mohammad Shahid Faisal. Faisal is a fugitive linked to several other terrorism cases being pursued by the NIA. He was reportedly radicalizing and recruiting youth to expand ISIS’s ideology and facilitate terrorist activities within India.
Huzair Farhan Beg was radicalized and recruited by co-accused Maj Munir Ahmed and Syed Yaseen. Following Ahmed’s directives, Beg arranged a hideout for terrorist activities in Bengaluru. He also received funds in cryptocurrency from friends, which were later converted to fiat currency for payments related to the hideout. These funds were facilitated through the online handler.
To date, the NIA has filed four charge sheets against 12 accused individuals in this case, with three already convicted and sentenced to six years in prison along with fines. The agency continues its efforts to locate and identify Mohammad Shahid Faisal, who is believed to have orchestrated the creation of this module and the conspiracy itself.
