Patna, April 9: The Bihar police have intensified their crackdown on land mafias. The arrest of a major figure has stirred political circles, as the accused is reportedly linked to a prominent political family in Bihar.
Acting on the directives of Superintendent of Police Vinay Tiwari, district police conducted a special raid near Banjari Mor in the municipal police station area, apprehending the alleged kingpin of the land mafia, Gang Dayal Yadav.
During this operation, three other suspects were also detained and are currently being interrogated.
According to police sources, the accused has been actively involved in land grabbing and related disputes for a considerable time. Gang Dayal Yadav has faced serious allegations in the past and has previously served time in jail.
Authorities revealed that Yadav is known in the region for his tactics of acquiring disputed lands at low prices and then seizing control of them. Investigators are now examining his entire network, including associates accused of illegal occupations and land disputes.
The Gopalganj police presented Yadav in the district court on Wednesday, where he was remanded to 14 days of judicial custody.
This case has taken a political turn, with reports suggesting that Gang Dayal Yadav has deep ties to a major political party in Bihar. However, officials have clarified that no formal confirmation of such connections has been made yet.
The operation was initiated following complaints from local residents, providing significant relief to the community.
SP Vinay Tiwari stated that strict vigilance is being maintained over illegal occupations and land-related disputes. He emphasized that no accused will be spared and that the campaign against land mafias will continue with full force.
