New Delhi, September 16 (Daily Kiran) : The recent floods in Bihar have wreaked havoc, destroying millions of acres of crops. In response, BJP MP Ghulam Ali Khatana has called on the government to provide compensation to the families affected by this disaster.
Khatana criticized opposition parties for their stance on various issues, including the UPI fees and the government’s decisions regarding the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF). He dismissed concerns raised by Congress regarding UPI, asserting that the system benefits the poor by making digital payments more accessible.
He explained that UPI has simplified digital transactions, which previously incurred higher costs through ATMs and other means. Khatana emphasized that minor fees on large transactions are justified given the costs associated with cybersecurity and transaction monitoring.
Regarding the Modi government’s recent amendments to the EPF, Khatana expressed optimism that approximately 5.1 million individuals would benefit. He highlighted the government’s commitment to creating job opportunities while ensuring social security for retired employees.
On reports of a suspected drone attack near the holy site of Makkah, Khatana condemned such incidents, stating that the Indian government has firmly rejected these claims and condemned the actions.
He also addressed the naval confrontation between India and Pakistan, noting that an existing treaty governs their relations. Khatana indicated that the Indian government has lodged a formal protest with Pakistan’s top diplomat regarding the incident.
In response to Omar Abdullah’s comments on the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), Khatana pointed out that the Indian Penal Code already applies uniformly to crimes such as theft and murder. He accused leaders like Abdullah and those from Congress and the Samajwadi Party of instilling fear within the Muslim community regarding the UCC, asserting that it poses no threat to them.
