Patna, May 1: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary visited the renowned Vishnupad Temple in Gaya on the auspicious occasion of Buddha Purnima. He performed religious rituals in the sanctum sanctorum and later reviewed key infrastructure and development projects in the area.
After his temple visit, the Chief Minister inspected the Falgu River and the Gaya Rubber Dam, assessing ongoing works and local conditions. He sought detailed updates from officials regarding the ambitious Vishnupad Corridor project, aimed at enhancing facilities for pilgrims and promoting religious tourism.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister arrived at Gaya’s Gandhi Maidan via helicopter. His convoy then proceeded through Kashinath Mor and the district collector’s office to reach the temple complex.
On Buddha Purnima, a special program titled “Religious Harmony in Indian Tradition” was held at the Shankaracharya Math under the National Seminar and Cultural Awareness Initiative, where the Chief Minister was the chief guest. Bihar Assembly Speaker Prem Kumar also attended the event.
In light of the heavy crowd expected for the Chief Minister’s visit and Buddha Purnima, stringent security measures were implemented in Gaya and Bodh Gaya. A large contingent of senior administrative officials and police personnel was deployed throughout the city.
To manage the crowd and ensure smooth traffic flow, general devotees were temporarily restricted from entering the temple shortly before the Chief Minister’s arrival, preventing any disruption to the prayers and security protocols.
Earlier, the Chief Minister visited Nalanda district, where he prayed at a local temple in Pranvan village for the prosperity of Bihar. He received a guard of honor from the police at the temple premises.
Recalling past initiatives, he noted that former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had granted ‘state fair’ status to the birthplace of Baba Sharan Mahato in 2018. To facilitate future events, the government plans to acquire land and construct a dedicated road connecting the site to the main route.
Emphasizing educational reforms, the Chief Minister announced the establishment of model schools and colleges in all 534 blocks of Bihar. These institutions aim to provide high-quality education that officials and public representatives will prioritize for their children.
