New Delhi, July 28: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to let the contracts of assistant coach Ryan Ten Doeschate and fielding coach T. Dilip expire. The board will soon announce new appointments to fill these positions. This information was shared by BCCI Secretary Devjeet Saikia on Tuesday.
The decision to change these two key members of the support staff comes as their contracts have already ended. With this announcement, speculation surrounding their future has been put to rest.
Saikia stated, “T. Dilip’s contract had been extended for an additional year after it initially expired last year. However, Ryan Ten Doeschate’s contract ended on June 10. Despite the expiration, he remained with the team until the conclusion of the India-England series on July 19. Now that the series is over, we are not extending his contract further. Consequently, we are releasing him. There have been various rumors and speculations regarding resignations, but that is not the case. After the contract period ended, we chose not to renew it. We are now in the process of hiring new personnel and will announce their names in a day or two.”
Following the conclusion of the white-ball tour in England, Ryan Ten Doeschate has completed his tenure as the Indian team’s assistant coach. He informed the BCCI of his decision shortly after India’s losses in both the T20 and ODI series against England while the team was still in the United Kingdom.
Ten Doeschate joined the Indian support staff when Gautam Gambhir took over as head coach after India’s title victory in the T20 World Cup 2024, replacing Rahul Dravid. Considered one of Gambhir’s trusted associates, the former all-rounder contributed significantly to the coaching group, assisting in both batting and fielding departments, and was a vital part of the Indian team’s support system.
However, during this period, the Test team faced challenges. India lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy during the tour of Australia, followed by consecutive defeats in the home series, including a 0-3 loss against New Zealand and a 0-2 defeat against South Africa.
