Bangladeshs Nahid Rana Out of Decisive T20 Match Against Zimbabwe Due to Injury

New Delhi, July 18: The Bangladesh cricket team has suffered a setback ahead of the third and final T20 match against Zimbabwe. Injured bowler Nahid Rana will not be able to participate in this crucial game. He sustained the injury during the second T20 match against Zimbabwe.

The 23-year-old fast bowler had an impressive performance in the series opener, taking four wickets for just 26 runs, marking his best outing in T20 international cricket. However, he had to leave the field after bowling just 2.3 overs in the next match, finishing with figures of 15 runs for one wicket.

After losing the only Test match by an innings and 85 runs, Bangladesh faced a 1-2 defeat in the three-match ODI series. They lost the first T20 match by 32 runs but bounced back to win the second match by 34 runs, leveling the series at 1-1.

According to a report from ‘Cricbuzz’, Rana is expected to be sidelined for two to three weeks due to a side strain. Bangladesh is scheduled to play a two-match Test series in Australia starting August 13. This injury raises serious doubts about Rana’s participation in the Australia tour.

It seems unlikely that Nahid Rana will be fit for the first Test match starting in Darwin on August 13, with the second match scheduled to take place in Mackay on August 22.

A member of the national selection committee confirmed to ‘Cricbuzz’ on Saturday (July 18) that they are hopeful for Rana’s recovery. They are currently awaiting the scan report, which will provide insights into the severity of his injury.

The selectors stated, “He (Rana) will definitely miss the third T20 match against Zimbabwe, and we believe it will take at least two to three weeks for him to recover from the side strain. We are waiting for the scan report. We hope everything is fine, as we still have some time before the first Test against Australia. Given his current bowling form, not being able to play on the Australia tour would be a significant blow, so we are eager to see how serious the injury is and how many days he will actually need to recover.”
