Bangladesh Takes Strong Lead Against Afghanistan in First Test Match

Abu Dhabi, October 9 (Daily Kiran) : Bangladesh dominated the first day of their single Test match against Afghanistan, finishing with a score of 317 runs for the loss of eight wickets. The match, held in Abu Dhabi, saw Bangladesh win the toss and opt to bat first.

Shadman Islam and Tanzid Hasan Tamim provided a solid foundation, forming a century partnership for the first wicket. Together, they amassed 124 runs before Islam was dismissed for 67, hitting seven boundaries. Tanzid narrowly missed a century, scoring 83 runs off 71 balls, which included eight fours and four sixes.

Mominul Haque could not capitalize on the strong start, contributing 39 runs before being dismissed. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto scored 29 runs but fell to Kais Ahmad. Mushfiqur Rahim faced just seven balls and was bowled out without scoring. Litton Das showcased his form with a half-century, scoring 50 runs from 89 balls, including four fours. Mehidy Hasan Miraz added 24 runs to the total.

Currently, Naeem Hasan is at the crease with 11 runs, while Taijul Islam is supporting him with four runs. Hasan Mahmud was dismissed for just two runs. Afghanistan’s bowlers struggled to make a significant impact, with Mohammad Salim Safi taking the most wickets—three in total. Yamin Ahmadzai and Ismat Alam each claimed two wickets, and Kais Ahmad took one.
