New Delhi: Ayush Badoni and Priyansh Arya will not feature in Delhi’s final Ranji Trophy Elite Group D match against Mumbai, scheduled at the BKC ground on Thursday. Mumbai, the current table-topper, has already secured a spot in the knockout stage, while Delhi, placed sixth, aims to finish the home season on a positive note.
Both Badoni and Arya have been selected for the India A team to participate in two warm-up matches ahead of the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. Badoni has previously represented India A in four-day and List A matches, and will now return alongside Arya, who has so far played only in the white-ball format for the side.
As part of preparations for the Men’s T20 World Cup, the India A team will face the USA on February 2 at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, followed by a match against Namibia on February 6 at the BCCI COE ground in Bengaluru. The World Cup, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, is scheduled from February 7 to March 8.
Ashok Sharma, Secretary of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA), confirmed that Ayush Dosaja, the highest run-scorer for Delhi in the current Ranji Trophy season, will lead the team against Mumbai. “Ayush Badoni and Priyansh Arya will miss the upcoming Ranji Trophy match against Mumbai as they have been selected for the India A team playing warm-up matches against USA and Namibia in Navi Mumbai and Bengaluru,” Sharma said. “Ayush Dosaja will captain Delhi in this match. He is currently the leading run-scorer in the tournament.”
Earlier this month, Badoni earned his first selection to the Indian national team as a replacement for the injured Washington Sundar during the ODI series against New Zealand. However, he did not get an opportunity to play in any match during that series.
The Delhi squad for the Ranji Trophy clash against Mumbai includes Ayush Dosaja (captain), Sanat Sangwan, Vaibhav Kandpal, Sumit Mathur, Pranav Rajvansh, Siddhant Sharma, Dhruv Kaushik, Rahul Dagar, Anuj Rawat, Divij Mehra, Aryan Rana, Mani Grewal, Rohan Rana, and Rahul Chaudhary.
