Axar Patel Proud of Teams Fighting Spirit in Final Matches

Kolkata, May 25: In the final league match of IPL 2026, Delhi Capitals (DC) showcased an impressive performance, defeating Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 40 runs. Captain Axar Patel expressed his happiness over the team’s strong finish to the tournament. He stated that he is proud of how the team fought in their last three matches.

Following the victory against KKR, Axar remarked, “I would say that the way we played in the last three matches, even when things weren’t going well, the team’s fighting spirit makes me very proud. No one thought we would just give up, believing we were already out.”

The Delhi Capitals captain further added, “First, you need to acknowledge your mistakes. Then, you realize what needs to be improved. This is the positive aspect you must carry forward. If just one match had gone differently, things could have been very different. I believe the last time we played good cricket, it was just about one match. Had that match gone in our favor, we would be discussing things differently. As we talked during the toss, those catch-taking moments are crucial. If that had happened, we might have been in a different position.”

Discussing his captaincy, Axar said, “I have learned that IPL is a tournament where you must consider everyone’s perspective. However, in the end, if you are mentally in a better place, you can handle everything properly. If you are not in a good mood, you might make wrong decisions or act out of frustration. I think staying calm is very important.”

On Sunday at Eden Gardens, batting first, Delhi Capitals scored 203 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their 20 overs. KL Rahul played a powerful innings, scoring 60 runs off 30 balls, while Axar Patel contributed 39 runs from 25 balls. However, in pursuit of the 204-run target, KKR’s entire team was bowled out for 163 runs in just 18.4 overs.
