Awareness Program Held Under Sampurnata Abhiyan 2.0 on National Science Day

Sheikhpura, February 28: On the occasion of National Science Day, a special awareness program was organized at Anganwadi Center No. 156 in Sarva Panchayat as part of the Government of India’s ‘Sampurnata Abhiyan 2.0’ on Saturday.

This initiative will run from February to April in aspirational districts and blocks, aiming to raise awareness and sensitivity among the public regarding health and nutrition.

The event was attended by various officials, including Sarva Panchayat representative Munni Kumari, Deputy Development Commissioner of Sheikhpura, District Planning Officer, District Program Officer (ICDS), DPM Jeevika, Block Development Officer of Barbigha, and the officer in charge of Barbigha Referral Hospital. They shared insights about the campaign’s objectives, which include improving maternal and child health, identifying tuberculosis, ensuring regular nutrition services, and enhancing basic facilities at Anganwadi centers.

During the program, pregnant women participated in a ‘Godh Bharai’ ceremony, and six-month-old children underwent the ‘Annaprashan’ ritual. Mothers received essential information regarding precautions related to pregnancy and infant care to ensure better health for both mothers and children. Educational kits were distributed to children up to six years old. Adolescent girls were educated about the importance of nutrition, sanitation, and safe drinking water, and they were also provided with menstrual hygiene kits.

The health department team conducted anemia checks for the attending adolescent girls and distributed necessary medications. Emphasis was placed on maintaining hygiene during menstruation and consuming a balanced diet. The community was alerted about diseases caused by open defecation and encouraged to use toilets regularly.

Anganwadi workers and health personnel addressed nursing mothers, pregnant women, and adolescents, emphasizing that nutritious food alone is not sufficient; personal hygiene, a safe environment, and regular exercise are also crucial for good health. They stated that the foundation of a healthy society rests on the well-being of mothers and adolescents.

Through this program, efforts were made to raise awareness about health, nutrition, and sanitation, aiming to bring about positive changes in society.
