Australia Dominates Netherlands by 98 Runs in Womens T20 World Cup

Southampton, June 20: Australia secured a commanding victory over the Netherlands by 98 runs in the 14th match of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. This win marks Australia’s fourth-largest victory margin by runs in the tournament’s history. With this triumph, Australia has claimed the top spot in Group A, achieving a hat-trick of wins.

In the match held on Saturday, Australia opted to bat first after losing the toss. They posted an impressive total of 219 runs, losing 6 wickets in the process. Georgia Voll partnered with Beth Mooney to score 50 runs in just 28 balls.

Georgia scored 17 runs off 9 balls, hitting 4 boundaries before being dismissed. Meanwhile, Ellyse Perry, playing her 50th T20 World Cup match, managed only 1 run before getting out.

Australia lost two wickets for just 51 runs in 5.1 overs. However, Beth Mooney and Ashleigh Gardner then built a solid partnership, adding 101 runs in 53 balls to bolster the team’s score. Mooney retired hurt after scoring 74 runs off 42 balls, which included 1 six and 9 fours. Gardner contributed significantly with 58 runs off 32 balls, hitting 9 boundaries. Additionally, Georgia Wareham scored a quick 41 runs off just 18 balls, featuring 8 fours. Captain Babette de Leede and Sterre Kalis attempted to stabilize the innings, putting together a partnership of 96 runs for the third wicket off 91 balls. However, they could not prevent a humiliating defeat. Kalis scored 44 runs off 43 balls, including 1 six and 5 fours, while de Leede remained unbeaten at 56 runs off 57 balls, striking 5 fours.
