Australia Announces Playing XI for Second Test Against Bangladesh

New Delhi, August 21: Australia has revealed its playing XI for the second and final Test against Bangladesh, starting Saturday in South Mackay. Matthew Renshaw makes his return to the team, opening the innings alongside Travis Head. Marnus Labuschagne and Nathan Lyon have also retained their spots in the lineup.

Renshaw will play his first Test since February 2023. His last appearance was against India in Delhi, where he stepped in as a concussion substitute for regular opener David Warner. Over 14 Tests, Renshaw has scored 645 runs in 24 innings, including one century and three half-centuries, with a top score of 184. He replaces Jake Weatherald, who struggled in both innings of the previous match.

Labuschagne has been unable to score big for some time. In the last Test played in Darwin, he also failed to perform well in both innings. Nevertheless, he remains in the playing XI for the Mackay Test, where the Australian captain will be hoping for a significant contribution from him.

Additionally, Steve Smith, Cameron Green, Alex Carey (wicketkeeper), and Beau Webster are also part of the playing XI. Cameron Green scored a century in the second innings of the first Test. Webster will need to deliver strong performances with both bat and ball in this match.

The pace attack consists of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood, while Nathan Lyon is the sole spinner in the team.

Australia aims to win this second match to avoid losing the series against Bangladesh.
