Sri Lanka Announces 14-Member Squad for Colombo Test Against India

New Delhi, August 21: Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced its 14-member squad for the second Test match against India, starting this Sunday. All-rounder Sahan Arachchige and batsman Kamil Mishara have been included in the team.

Dinesh Chandimal, who was injured during the first Test, has been ruled out of the second match. His replacement, Pasindu Sooriya Bandara, has also been dropped from the squad. Opener Nishan Madushka did not make the cut, and bowling all-rounder Ramesh Mendis along with fast bowler Dilshan Madushka also failed to secure a spot.

Arachchige’s selection comes as a reward for his outstanding performance against India A. He recently captained the Sri Lanka A cricket team and showcased excellent batting skills, scoring 72 runs in the first match and 127 in the second. He was the second-highest scorer in the unofficial series, trailing only India’s Sai Sudharsan. Arachchige is eagerly awaiting his Test debut.

Mishara has been in remarkable form during the Lanka Premier League 2026, accumulating 411 runs in nine innings, including a century against the Galle Gladiators. He also excelled in the Major Clubs T20 competition, scoring 145 runs off just 72 balls.

Sri Lanka lost the first Test match and must secure a victory in the second Test to keep the series alive. India won the first Test by 165 runs.
