Shanghai, April 15: ASUS has launched the ROG Open Wireless (OWS) gaming earbuds, designed to combine comfort, low-latency performance, and everyday usability. These earbuds feature an open-ear design, allowing users to remain aware of their surroundings while listening, making them ideal for both gaming and daily activities. The ergonomic ear-hook structure ensures a secure fit without exerting pressure on the ear canal, enabling longer usage sessions without discomfort.
Launch and Availability
The ROG Open Wireless (OWS) earbuds have debuted in China and are currently available on JD.com. Priced at 1399 yuan, they are offered at an introductory launch price of 1199 yuan. ASUS plans to expand availability to additional regions through its official retail channels in the upcoming months.
Connectivity and Gaming Performance
The earbuds support dual-mode connectivity, including Bluetooth and 2.4GHz wireless via a USB-C dongle. This feature allows seamless switching between devices and even simultaneous dual-device connections. ASUS has incorporated its SpeedNova wireless technology, which delivers ultra-low latency, up to six times lower than standard Bluetooth. This ensures faster audio transmission and improved synchronization, enabling users to react swiftly in competitive gaming scenarios with precise positional sound.
Audio and Microphone System
Featuring a 14.2mm diamond-like carbon-coated driver, the earbuds provide clear highs, deep bass, and minimal distortion. Multiple sound modes, including bass enhancement and immersive options, allow users to tailor audio to their preferences. The quad-microphone array with AI noise cancellation enhances voice clarity, improving both call quality and in-game communication.
Battery, Durability, and Additional Features
The earbuds offer up to 16 hours of usage on a single charge, with total battery life extending up to 48–64 hours when using the charging case. Fast charging support provides approximately three hours of playback with just 15 minutes of charging. With an IPX5 rating, the earbuds are resistant to sweat and light splashes. Additional features such as USB-C pass-through charging and an extended connector design enhance convenience, especially for users with devices that have thicker protective cases.
