
New Delhi, April 15: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced the results for the Class 10 examinations for the year 2026 on Wednesday. Once again, the southern region of India has topped the board examination results across the country.
Thiruvananthapuram and Vijayawada jointly secured the first position with an impressive pass rate of 99.79%. Following closely are Chennai with 99.58% and Bengaluru with 98.91%. The Delhi region also performed well, with West Delhi and East Delhi recording pass rates of 97.45% and 97.33%, respectively.
Other notable regions include Pune, which achieved a pass rate of 96.66%, and Ahmedabad, where the CBSE Class 10 results stood at 96.61%. The Ludhiana region had a strong showing with a pass percentage of 95.70%. Meanwhile, Ajmer, Bhubaneswar, and Gurugram reported results ranging between 93% and 94%.
In the central and northern regions, Bhopal, Panchkula, Lucknow, and Dehradun recorded results between 91% and 92%. However, some areas reported lower pass rates. Prayagraj, Patna, and Raipur had pass percentages between 88% and 89%, while Noida, Ranchi, and Guwahati saw rates between 85% and 87%.
This year, the CBSE Class 10 examinations were conducted from February 17 to March 11. The board released the results earlier than the previous year. The examination process was more extensive this year, with a total of 27,339 schools and 8,075 examination centers involved, compared to 26,675 schools and 7,837 centers last year.
This indicates a continuous growth in the board’s reach and participation. In 2026, a total of 2,483,479 students registered for the exams, with 2,471,777 actually participating. Out of those who took the exams, 2,316,008 students passed.
The overall pass percentage for this year stands at 93.70%, slightly up from last year’s 93.66%. This figure reflects a stable and positive performance. Educators believe that the Class 10 results for 2026 demonstrate a balanced and consistent performance. The timely conduct of examinations, prompt evaluation, and transparent result systems have strengthened the trust of students and parents alike.
