Lucknow, September 15 (Daily Kiran) : Astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla engaged with schoolchildren during the launch of his book at the Gomti Book Festival in Lucknow on September 15. He shared stories from his space travels, highlighting the importance of curiosity, family support, and the opportunities and challenges facing the next generation. Shukla encouraged children to dream big and work diligently towards their goals.
Shukla explained that while his book had its initial launch in Delhi on June 25, he wanted to present it in Lucknow as it marks the beginning of his own journey. His goal in writing the book is to instill confidence in children that success can begin anywhere. Reflecting on his own experiences, he noted that he started from a classroom, proving that reaching for the stars is possible for today’s students.
The event saw a significant turnout from students of various schools, who eagerly asked questions about space science, careers, and pathways to success. Shukla remarked on the practicality of their inquiries, as students expressed a strong desire to engage in fields like space exploration. He emphasized the responsibility of adults to create an environment where children can contribute to India’s growth in science and technology.
Discussing the capabilities of the new generation, Shukla stated that neither Generation Alpha nor Generation Z is inherently more capable than the other. Both generations are intelligent and full of potential, but they require guidance to channel their energy towards positive goals. He acknowledged the abundance of opportunities available today, alongside distractions, making it crucial for children to focus on what truly matters.
Shukla noted the visible curiosity among the children during their interactions. They posed numerous questions about their futures and sought direction for their paths ahead. He underscored that providing accurate and reliable information to children is a societal responsibility.
When reflecting on the support he received throughout his space missions, Shukla emphasized that success is not solely the result of individual effort. It involves the contributions of family, friends, and an entire team. He credited the hard work of thousands, including the ISRO and Axiom teams, as well as his family and friends, for his achievements.
In his message to the children, Shukla encouraged them to involve their families and friends in their journeys toward success. He acknowledged that life can present unfavorable circumstances, but these should not define one’s entire journey. Looking at the bigger picture, he stressed the importance of family support, especially during challenging times.
