New Delhi, September 15 (Daily Kiran) : The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has expressed strong support for the Delhi government’s recent decision to construct a hostel with the capacity to accommodate 10,000 students. As a prominent hub for higher education in India, Delhi has long faced the challenge of providing safe, affordable, and accessible housing for its student population.
The ABVP has consistently advocated for an increase in the number of hostels and better residential facilities for students in the capital. Following the recent incident in Satya Niketan, concerns regarding the safety and adherence to established security standards for student housing have intensified. The construction of new hostels is seen as a crucial step toward ensuring that essential safety measures, including fire safety, emergency exits, adequate ventilation, cleanliness, lighting, and overall security, are strictly implemented.
Sarthak Sharma, the state minister of ABVP Delhi, stated, “Providing sufficient and secure hostel accommodations for students has been a long-standing demand of the ABVP. Our manifesto for the upcoming DUSU elections prominently features the need to increase the number of hostels and ensure better and safer residential facilities.”
He further emphasized that the Delhi government’s decision to build a hostel for 10,000 students is a significant move in response to this ongoing demand. The ABVP hopes that this initiative will be swiftly realized and that all necessary safety standards will be met, allowing students arriving in Delhi to enjoy secure, dignified, and improved housing options.
