Mumbai, September 15 (Daily Kiran) : Following the Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) registration of a First Information Report (FIR) in the Disha Salian case, BJP legislator Ram Kadam has directed sharp criticism at former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. Kadam highlighted that Salian’s father had repeatedly sought justice, yet the Thackeray administration failed to act on his complaints.
In a conversation with a news agency, Kadam recalled the allegations made by Salian’s father, who claimed that his daughter was murdered after enduring sexual assault and physical violence. The father also raised concerns about a possible gang rape. Despite these serious allegations, Kadam questioned why the previous government did not register a case or refer the matter to the CBI sooner.
Kadam referenced a sting operation that revealed a witness present during the post-mortem had noted multiple injuries and scratches on Salian’s body. He insisted that all these factors warranted a thorough and transparent investigation. Furthermore, he asked why the previous government hesitated to conduct an inquiry if there was no involvement from any politicians, actors, or officials.
The BJP legislator accused the Thackeray government of neglecting the investigation during its tenure. He stated that Salian’s father had been persistent in demanding a CBI inquiry, which was initially ignored. With the recent FIR naming Aditya Thackeray and others, new questions have emerged regarding the case.
On the topic of Maratha reservation, Kadam defended Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, asserting that the Fadnavis administration has addressed nearly all demands of the Maratha community, which is well-acquainted with Maharashtra’s circumstances. He acknowledged ongoing discussions over some demands, but warned that certain accepted requests might still face legal challenges in court. Kadam emphasized that the government does not believe in making false promises or misleading the public.
Responding to statements made by NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule, Kadam questioned whether she considered herself above the judiciary. He noted that the investigation is ongoing and that the FIR was filed following judicial directives. He posed the rhetorical question of whether court orders should not be followed, asserting that the true state of the case will only become clear once the investigation is complete.
