Bulldozers Clear Illegal Constructions in Ranchi, Hundreds Protest

Ranchi, September 15 (Daily Kiran) : In Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, a significant operation was launched on Tuesday morning to clear encroachments from government land. The administration deployed multiple bulldozers to remove alleged illegal constructions on land owned by the Heavy Engineering Corporation (HEC) and the railways. A large police presence was established to maintain law and order during the operation.

As the demolition began, hundreds of affected residents took to the streets in protest. They voiced their opposition to the campaign, arguing that it was being conducted without any arrangements for their rehabilitation. Throughout the morning, officials used loudspeakers to urge residents to voluntarily remove their homes and other structures from the railway and HEC land. Authorities warned that those who did not comply would see their properties demolished by bulldozers.

The atmosphere turned chaotic as the operation commenced. Many families were seen hastily removing their belongings to safer locations. Anger and frustration were palpable among those affected, with numerous women, men, and children joining the protests. Demonstrators expressed that they had lived in these areas for a long time and felt threatened by the sudden enforcement action, which jeopardized their homes and daily lives.

Some residents claimed they were not provided with clear information regarding rehabilitation or alternative arrangements before the demolition began. However, the administration stated that they were following the established procedures for land ownership and encroachment removal. In response to the situation, police increased security in the area, deploying additional forces at sensitive locations and urging the public to help maintain order.

Officials confirmed that the campaign to remove illegal encroachments on railway and HEC land would continue. They assured that adequate police personnel and magistrates were on hand to address any potential issues during the operation. Tensions remained high in the area, with the administration closely monitoring the situation throughout the demolition drive.
