Assam Minister Praises BJP Victory as Reflection of Public Trust

Guwahati, May 9: Assam’s Education Minister Ranoj Pegu expressed gratitude to the voters of his Dhemaji constituency for electing him. He stated that the BJP’s impressive victory in the state assembly elections reflects the growing trust and confidence of the public in the alliance and its leadership.

Speaking to reporters, Pegu conveyed his deep appreciation for the faith shown in him by the electorate. He assured that he would continue to work for the development of the constituency and the welfare of its residents over the next five years.

“I sincerely thank the people of my constituency for electing me. I view this not just as gratitude but as a responsibility and duty. In the coming years, I will strive for the development of the constituency and provide various services to the public,” he said.

Referring to the performance of the National Democratic Alliance, Pegu noted that the alliance’s prospects in Assam have significantly strengthened. He mentioned that there is a strong likelihood of a new council of ministers being sworn in on May 12.

Pegu added that the BJP-led alliance will hold its first legislative party meeting on May 10, following the arrival of the party’s central observers, during which the leader of the legislative party will be elected.

He stated that the elected leader of the assembly party will become the Chief Minister. Forming the council of ministers is the prerogative of the Chief Minister. However, there are already widespread expectations among the public that former Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma will once again assume the role of Chief Minister.

Regarding the question of ministerial positions, the senior BJP leader emphasized that this issue should not be viewed as the most critical aspect of governance.

He remarked that not everyone in the 126-member assembly can become a minister. This is a complex process that takes into account the representation of various communities and groups. Becoming a minister is not the primary concern. We have always worked as a team in Assam, and every legislator plays a vital role.
