Asian Boxing Championship: Nikhat and Lovlina Advance with Byes, Challenging Match for Jadumani

New Delhi, March 29: The Indian boxing team is set to commence its campaign at the Asian Elite Boxing Championship 2026, starting Monday in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The draw has confirmed initial matches and byes across various categories.

In the women’s draw, Preeti Pawar will face Kazakhstan’s Elina Bazarova in the 54 kg category, while Priya will compete against Rimma Volosenko, also from Kazakhstan, in the 60 kg category. Meenakshi is set to take on Japan’s Yuka Sadamatsu, and Pooja Rani will go up against Kazakhstan’s Nadezhda Ryabets.

Meanwhile, according to information from the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) received on Sunday, Nikhat Zareen, Jasmine Lamboria, Ankushita Boro, Arundhati Chaudhary, Lovlina Borgohain, and Alfiya Pathan have received byes and will advance to the next round.

In the men’s category, Vishwanath Suresh will begin against Kazakhstan’s Bekzat Ergeshov, while Jadumani Singh faces a tough match against top seed Rui Yamaguchi from Japan in the 55 kg category. Sachin will compete against Mongolia’s Buyandlai Bayarkhu, and Aditya Pratap Singh will face Saudi Arabia’s Mauda Alhawsaw. Deepak will go up against Uzbekistan’s Khavasbek Asadullaev. Ankush and Narendra have received byes, advancing to the next round, while Akash, Lokesh, and Harsh Chaudhary are also preparing for crucial matches in their respective categories.
