Mumbai, March 29: Mumbai Indians opener Rohit Sharma delivered a spectacular performance in the second match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. On Sunday at Wankhede Stadium, Rohit scored 78 runs off just 38 balls, featuring 6 sixes and as many fours against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). This marked his 50th half-century in IPL history.

Rohit Sharma ranks fourth in the list of players with the most half-centuries in IPL. Virat Kohli leads the chart with 72 half-centuries, followed by David Warner with 66. Shikhar Dhawan holds the third spot with 53, while KL Rahul is fifth with 45.

In this match, Rohit completed his half-century in just 23 balls. Notably, he had previously scored a half-century in just 25 balls against Chennai Super Kings in 2015.

After losing the toss, KKR batted first and posted a total of 220 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. The team received a strong start from Finn Allen and captain Ajinkya Rahane, who added 69 runs in just 5.2 overs.

Allen scored 37 runs off 17 balls before getting out, after which Rahane partnered with Cameron Green to add 40 runs for the second wicket in just 21 balls. Green contributed 18 runs to the total.

KKR lost 2 wickets by the time they reached 109 runs. Rahane then built a solid position for the team with Angkrish Suryavanshi, adding 36 runs together. Rahane scored 67 runs off 40 balls, hitting 5 sixes and 3 fours before getting dismissed.

Suryavanshi, along with Rinku Singh, added 60 runs for the fourth wicket in 30 balls, pushing the team past 200 runs. Suryavanshi scored 51 runs off 29 balls, including 2 sixes and 6 fours, while Rinku Singh remained unbeaten with 33 runs. For Mumbai Indians, Shardul Thakur took the most wickets, claiming 3, while Hardik Pandya secured 1 wicket.
