Itanagar, September 6 (Daily Kiran) : In a significant operation, police in Arunachal Pradesh successfully rescued 34 children from suspected human trafficking networks. The operation, which took place in various parts of the state, also led to the arrest of four women believed to be involved in the trafficking.
Authorities reported that the ongoing investigation into child trafficking and illegal child labor cases has so far identified and rescued 38 individuals, including the 34 children and four adults. This operation was initiated in response to a case previously registered at the Nam Sai police station.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Kengo Dirchi led the operation under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Sange Thinle, with support from the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU).
As the investigation progressed, another key suspect, Rupali Padung, was apprehended, bringing the total number of arrested adults to four. Authorities are examining the roles of all arrested individuals in the transportation and employment of the children.
Investigators are working to uncover the entire network of accomplices involved in the case, including the transportation of victims, their housing arrangements, financial transactions, and electronic evidence.
Preliminary findings suggest that traffickers targeted economically vulnerable families, promising better education and care for their children. Reports indicate that children were allegedly taken and placed with various individuals in remote areas, with transactions ranging from ₹10,000 to ₹50,000 per child.
Authorities are also questioning those who allegedly housed the children, as well as their parents and guardians. Investigators are verifying the circumstances surrounding the children’s placements and the roles of those involved, with legal action pending based on the evidence gathered.
The CWC and DCPU in Nam Sai are providing care, safety, counseling, rehabilitation, and welfare support for the rescued children.
