Ranchi, September 6 (Daily Kiran) : The Crime Investigation Department (CID) has arrested a successful candidate linked to a paper leak scandal involving the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission’s Combined Graduate Level (CGL) examination. The arrest took place in Ranchi, with the individual identified as Kundan Kumar.
Kumar, originally from Dumri village in the Naudihabazar police area of Palamu district, is accused of financially supporting the paper leak syndicate. He had passed the CGL exam and was stationed in Sisai, Gumla district.
According to the CID’s special investigation team, evidence suggests that members of the paper leak gang obtained exam questions from Mithilesh Singh of the ICN agency. The syndicate allegedly charged candidates for access to answers before the exam. Kumar is under scrutiny for his financial involvement with the group.
So far, over 125 candidates have come under investigation for their suspected roles in the scandal. Among them, 28 candidates were reportedly taken to Nepal by gang members before the exam, where they were allegedly coached on the answers. Investigators revealed that the gang provided answers to a total of 135 questions, with 120 of them appearing verbatim in the main exam.
The investigation is also examining call records and financial transactions of both the arrested individuals and the named suspects. CID officials stated that if any candidate is confirmed to have connections with the paper leak gang or involvement in exam fraud, legal action will be taken. The selection of candidates who secured jobs through this process may also be affected based on the investigation’s findings.
