Itanagar, May 27: The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Lieutenant General K.T. Parnaik (Retired), called on the youth to preserve traditional values, indigenous knowledge, languages, and cultural traditions while adopting environmental protection and sustainable lifestyles.
Speaking at the Youth Sangam program held at Lok Bhavan, Itanagar, the Governor emphasized the crucial role of youth in nation-building. He advised them to remain educated, disciplined, and self-motivated.
The Governor interacted with students from Uttar Pradesh and the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST), which serves as the nodal institution for Arunachal Pradesh in the Youth Sangam Phase-6, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Lucknow.
Lieutenant General Parnaik urged students to connect with people from various parts of the country and engage in meaningful dialogue to strengthen unity, mutual respect, and national integration. He noted that such programs help youth understand India’s diversity and reinforce the spirit of “unity.”
He highlighted the importance of the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative and encouraged youth to actively participate in programs that promote cultural understanding, emotional bonding, and shared national pride.
The Governor advised young people to cultivate curiosity and an exploratory mindset, stating that these traits are essential for learning, innovation, and personal growth.
Addressing students from Uttar Pradesh, he shared insights about Arunachal Pradesh’s rich history, vibrant culture, and development journey. He pointed out the immense potential in hydropower, horticulture, tourism, and organic farming, while also mentioning the challenges related to the state’s geographical and infrastructural aspects.
He noted that with the support of the central government and the determination of the state’s people, Arunachal Pradesh is making continuous progress.
The Governor connected Arunachal Pradesh to India’s ancient civilizational and cultural heritage, mentioning several sacred and historical sites. He described Parshuram Kund as a significant pilgrimage site linked to Indian faith and mythological traditions. He also highlighted the historical and archaeological importance of Bhismaknagar and Malinithan.
He encouraged students from Uttar Pradesh to take back memories of the warmth, goodwill, and hospitality of the people of Arunachal Pradesh, as well as to remember the state’s rich cultural heritage, traditions, and natural beauty.
The Governor stated that the people of the Northeast, like citizens from other parts of the country, are patriotic, dedicated, and committed to national development. He emphasized that this region has always made significant contributions to the country’s unity, security, culture, and development, and therefore deserves equal respect, understanding, and opportunities in all areas.
He called on the youth to become ambassadors of national unity and work towards eliminating regional discrimination and prejudices through dialogue, empathy, and respect.
