Anti-Narcotics Cell Busts Fake Call Center in New Delhi, 12 Arrested

New Delhi, April 7: The Anti-Narcotics Cell has successfully dismantled a fake call center operating in Guru Arjun Nagar, under the jurisdiction of the Ranjit Nagar police station.

Acting on a tip-off, the Anti-Narcotics Cell team raided the Ratanlal Complex in Guru Arjun Nagar, where the fraudulent call center was located. Authorities arrested 12 individuals involved in the scam, including two owners and ten telecallers. The owners were identified as Saurabh, a 28-year-old resident of Pandav Nagar, and Shah Nawaz from Shadipur. The telecallers included Anjali, Kashish, Rajni, Gunman, Pooja, Kavita, Manju, Raksha, Imran, and Anu.

During the investigation, it was revealed that the accused were operating under the name “RD Services” and were deceiving customers by selling fake roadside assistance policies. The callers contacted customers either randomly or through data, falsely claiming that they could receive immediate assistance for vehicle-related issues, such as flat tires or breakdowns, by calling a dedicated helpline number.

To gain customers’ trust, the scammers offered cash on delivery (COD) for a plastic policy card. Customers were instructed to pay the delivery person upon receiving the card. Typically, the fraudsters charged between 3,000 to 4,000 rupees per policy.

During questioning, the suspects disclosed that they had been running the fake call center for six months. They intentionally used keypad mobile phones as official helpline numbers. After selling the policies and receiving payments, they would not answer customer calls and provided no assistance. The accused admitted they lacked any valid registration to operate such a service.

The Anti-Narcotics Cell seized a computer system, fake plastic policy cards, customer data sheets, and mobile phones used for making calls during the raid. All arrested individuals were handed over to the Ranjit Nagar police station along with the recovered items. The Ranjit Nagar police have since registered a case and initiated an investigation.
