Armed Gang Steals Gold and Cash in Karimnagar Heist

Hyderabad, July 22: A significant robbery occurred in Karimnagar, Telangana, where an armed gang threatened family members with knives and revolvers. They stole 66 tolas of gold jewelry, cash amounting to 2.1 million rupees, and other valuables.

According to police reports, the incident took place on Tuesday night in the Bhagat Nagar area, involving around eight unidentified assailants. The masked robbers entered the home while the owner, Azmat Ali, was coming down from the first floor to turn off the lights. They captured the elderly Azmat Ali, binding his mouth with tape, and then brutally assaulted him inside the house.

The criminals also attacked Ali’s wife and two daughters. Armed with knives and revolvers, they threatened to kill anyone who made noise. After restraining the family, the gang made off with 66 tolas of gold jewelry, 2.1 million rupees in cash, and 10 tolas of silver.

Before fleeing, they locked all family members in a room and confiscated their mobile phones to prevent them from alerting the police or seeking help. The gang also stole two motorcycles parked on the ground floor.

Police suspect the robbers escaped via the Vemulawada bypass. An investigation has commenced, with authorities reviewing CCTV footage from the area.

Victims reported that the robbers wore masks and spoke Hindi with a North Indian accent. The gang targeted this home likely due to the presence of elderly individuals and women, suggesting they had prior knowledge of the family’s routine and the valuables kept inside.

This marks the second major robbery in Karimnagar in less than three months. On May 3, a gang of robbers attacked the PMJ jewelry shop in broad daylight, injuring four employees. They escaped with 161 tolas of gold jewelry and 112 carats of diamonds.

Following an in-depth investigation, police linked this incident to the notorious Subodh Singh gang from Bihar. Some gang members have already been apprehended. Reports indicate that Subodh Singh planned the robbery while incarcerated in Purnia jail.

The Subodh Singh gang has been involved in numerous robberies across Bihar, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Uttarakhand, known for their organized and strategic heists.
