Andhra Pradesh Government Allocates ₹33,000 Crore for Social Security Pensions, Says Chandrababu Naidu

Amaravati, May 1: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced on Friday that the state government spends ₹33,000 crore annually on social security pensions, a level of investment unmatched elsewhere in the country.

The state provides pensions to 6.247 million beneficiaries each month. Over the past 22 months, more than ₹63,000 crore has been spent on pensions.

While addressing a public gathering after distributing pensions under the NTR Bharosa Pension Scheme in Krishna district, the Chief Minister stated, “We allocate ₹2,700 crore every month. I do not see this as a burden but as my responsibility. This scheme provides essential relief and support to the poor.”

Chandrababu Naidu participated in an event held in Pamidimukkala of the Pamarru assembly constituency. He emphasized that he, along with Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has been working continuously for the reconstruction of Andhra Pradesh, fulfilling promises made over the last 22 months.

He reiterated that since the coalition government led by the Telugu Desam Party took office, efforts have been made to restore broken systems and revive the state’s former identity.

The Chief Minister also mentioned that the state government is reducing electricity tariffs as promised during the last assembly elections, clarifying that there will be no increase in electricity prices. He pointed out that previous governments had raised electricity rates nine times, burdening the public. This government operates with full transparency and aims to provide better governance with public cooperation.

Naidu announced that he will now seek direct feedback from the public regarding their respective legislators’ performance at every public meeting. He stated that he would personally review the work of legislators in the presence of the public.

“I stand with the people, not the legislators. My commitment is solely to the public,” he asserted. He concluded that a positive image of the government can only be established if elected representatives and officials work together.
