Mumbai, June 20: Renowned composer Anand Raj Anand’s beloved song ‘Uncha Lamba Kad’ is making a comeback nearly 19 years later through the film ‘Welcome to the Jungle.’ Reflecting on this revival, he expressed that it signifies not just a return but a natural part of his journey.
Anand stated, “I believe I was never truly away from the industry. I have always been connected to music; the only difference was that I was sometimes lost in creative thought and at other times focused on practical execution. Music never stopped, so this return feels more like a continuation rather than a fresh start.”
He reminisced about 2007 when he composed the song for the film ‘Welcome,’ which starred Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif. The song was immensely popular at the time, and now, almost two decades later, a new version is being presented to audiences.
Anand shared, “Welcome has been one of the most memorable films of my career. I have a deep connection with this franchise, and many of my songs have become part of people’s memories. Now, these songs are being reimagined for a new generation, making this experience incredibly emotional and magical for me.”
Regarding his return, he said, “The love I continue to receive is beyond my expectations. This support from people moves me and reinforces that my music is still as impactful as it was before. This is the greatest achievement for an artist.”
He added, “I don’t think I was ever missing. I have always been present in the world of music; I just chose to step back at times to focus on creative thinking and at other times on direct work. Even today, my old songs are widely used in social media reels and videos. Music does not age with time; it only grows stronger.”
Anand recounted a challenging moment during the making of ‘Welcome,’ when he received a call late at night. The team needed three songs in a very short time frame, giving him just 15 days to deliver. “It was a significant challenge, but I accepted it and worked hard to complete it. Among those songs were ‘Uncha Lamba Kad’ and ‘Hoth Raseele,’ which later became superhits.”
