Beijing, August 30: A press briefing was held on August 30 regarding the landslide that occurred in Qulong County, located in the Shigatse Autonomous Region of China.
Following the landslide, the Shigatse Autonomous Region promptly activated a first-level emergency response for natural disasters. The municipal government established an emergency rescue command center and a forward command post. Additionally, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Emergency Management allocated an emergency fund of 120 million yuan. The National Development and Reform Commission also earmarked 100 million yuan to support disaster relief and post-disaster recovery efforts.
Currently, a total of 2,141 rescue personnel from various sectors, including the military, armed police, fire rescue teams, border defense, public security, and the China Anning Construction Group, are engaged in rescue operations in the affected areas. They have deployed 269 rescue vehicles and 3,922 sets of rescue equipment.
As of 6 PM on August 29, reports indicate that the landslide has resulted in 16 fatalities, with an additional 546 individuals reported missing.
