Mumbai, August 30: Filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi’s impactful movies and powerful dialogues continue to resonate with audiences today. Films like ‘Ghayal’, ‘Ghatak’, and ‘Damini’ have carved a unique identity in Hindi cinema, with many of their dialogues still fresh in people’s minds. Recently, when references to his acclaimed films appeared in the Ranveer Singh-starrer ‘Dhurdhar’, it marked a special moment for Santoshi.
In the film, Singh’s character states, “I am Ghayal, which is why I am Ghatak.” In an exclusive conversation, Santoshi shared his feelings about this homage to his work.
He expressed, “There is no greater joy for a filmmaker than knowing that years later, people still remember their work. The fact that my dialogues are still recalled is proof that I have done good work in my career. This brings me immense satisfaction as a filmmaker.”
Regarding the dialogue “I am Ghayal, which is why I am Ghatak,” he noted, “For me, this was not just a use of a dialogue; it was an honor to pass on my films’ legacy to the next generation. I congratulate director Aditya Dhar and the entire team for the film’s success. Aditya Dhar is a talented filmmaker, and I hope he continues to create great films in the future.”
When asked about his awareness of the dialogue’s inclusion in the film, Santoshi replied, “Yes, I was informed immediately about the use of the dialogue. I was pleased to see it used appropriately in the film.”
