Born on October 9, 1945, in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, Khan is the youngest son of the renowned sarod maestro Ustad Hafiz Ali Khan. Growing up in a musical family, he was immersed in the world of music from an early age. His journey with the sarod began when he started learning from his father, showcasing his prodigious talent by giving his first solo performance at just 12 years old.
