Rekha Shares Childhood Memories of Discipline and a Crazy Fan Encounter

Mumbai, October 9 (Daily Kiran) : Actress Rekha, a prominent figure in Indian cinema, recently shared heartfelt anecdotes from her childhood during an appearance on “The Great Indian Kapil Sharma Show.” Known for her remarkable talent, Rekha credits much of her success to her mother, Pushpavalli. While she often recounts stories about her mother, one particular tale about her childhood discipline stood out.

During the show, host Archana Puran Singh asked Rekha how many films she had worked on simultaneously. Rekha revealed, “At one point, I signed at least 40 films and worked on 14 simultaneously. My mother always told me that no matter how much fame or even an Oscar I might achieve, I must remain humble. If I don’t, then I am not her daughter.”

Rekha humorously recounted her experiences with discipline, admitting she often faced strict punishment from her mother for poor academic performance. “I got beaten a lot because I struggled with studies. If I failed, my mother would punish me with a long cane. It looked thin but hurt quite a bit,” she explained.

One particularly memorable incident occurred when she failed a school exam. Rekha joked that she misunderstood her report card, thinking she had done well. However, upon seeing her grades, her mother’s anger led to a severe punishment with the cane. Rekha claimed that the marks from those beatings still remain on her body. She shared this story with a playful spirit, capturing the innocence of childhood and the unique bond between mother and daughter, which brought laughter to the audience.

As the conversation continued, Rekha described herself as quite mischievous, often getting scolded and even punished by directors and choreographers during her early career.

She also shared a funny incident involving a devoted fan who lay down in front of her car, insisting on a hug. “Once, as my car was moving, a fan lay down in front of it, saying, ‘If you don’t get out and hug me, then just kill me,’” Rekha recalled, smiling at the memory of her interaction with the fan.

Rekha’s stories not only entertained but also highlighted her unique experiences in the film industry and her cherished memories of childhood discipline.
