Mumbai, May 18: In Bastar, Chhattisgarh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the ‘Shaheed Veer Gundadhur Seva Dera’ service center on Monday. He stated that security camps established by our forces to create a Naxal-free India will now be transformed into Common Service Centers.
Amit Shah emphasized that today marks a historic day. He assured that within six months, this center, which currently appears as a government initiative, will be bustling with the presence and joy of local tribal communities. The land where I stand today is a sacred pilgrimage site for every citizen of India.
This is the birthplace and work area of Shaheed Veer Gundadhur. Inspired by him, the Netanar camp, which has functioned as a security post since 2013, is now being dedicated to the welfare of the tribal community.
The Home Minister remarked that while freedom came to the country long ago, the sun of freedom has only risen in Bastar after March 31, 2026. He assured that the losses suffered by Bastar will be compensated swiftly. The government will spare no effort in the development of the local populace. A reservation system has been established for tribal brothers and sisters, ensuring 15% reservation in job advertisements. Once you educate your children, they will have opportunities for government jobs and employment in industries.
We have committed to effectively packaging, branding, and marketing forest produce through a national-level cooperative created for you. Dairy and forest produce will usher in a new era of employment here.
He also announced that a dairy model will be implemented through the National Dairy Development Board. Every village will have dairy facilities, and the central and state governments will provide two animals to every tribal sister.
To better design these camps, we are assigning this project to the National Institute of Design. Each camp will be comprehensively designed, including banking facilities. Your Aadhaar card and ration card will be created here, and you will receive funds from government schemes at this location. Through the Common Service Center, you will benefit from 371 schemes of the state and central governments from a single building.
Currently, there are about 196 camps in Bastar. We plan to convert 70 of these into service centers dedicated to tribal welfare within the next year and a half.
He stated that tribal brothers and sisters have as much right to government services as those in Delhi, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad. This is your government, and it is responsible for bringing happiness into your lives. This camp was initiated with that purpose. Naxalites have long propagated the misconception that our development did not occur, which led them to take up arms. However, development was hindered because they were armed. Now that they have surrendered, development has begun.
Amit Shah highlighted that a comprehensive education program is underway here. Volunteers from the Sangh are teaching people to read and write. The goal of eradicating Naxalism is to ensure that all facilities available in major cities reach the lives of poor tribal communities, providing your children with the same opportunities.
The Home Minister noted that many tribal brothers and sisters, who were innocent, fell victim to ID explosions planted by Naxalites. Children were taken from schools to Naxalite camps. In the name of ‘people’s government,’ many innocent individuals were publicly executed. The country gained independence, but that freedom was not allowed to reach here. There was a time when six police officers were killed, schools and hospitals were destroyed, and ration and employment were denied to people. The concept of banks was unimaginable. Today, a service center is being established for poor tribal brothers and sisters at that very location.
This land is a pilgrimage site for every citizen of India. It is the birthplace of Shaheed Veer Gundadhur, a brave tribal leader who united the tribes of Bastar against foreign rule. Inspired by him, this security center, which once protected the people, will now serve as a service center for public welfare.
