Giridih, April 19: A 20-year-old woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances in the Guwakhadar village of Giridih district, Jharkhand. The deceased has been identified as Rajina Khatoon.
Following the incident, her family members stormed the in-laws’ house, accusing them of murdering her for dowry.
Rajina’s brother, Saddam Ansari, reported that he received news of her death on Sunday morning. Upon arriving at Guwakhadar village, they discovered Rajina’s body lying in the house, while her husband, Minhaj Ansari, along with his parents, had fled.
Family members noted deep marks on Rajina’s neck, raising suspicions that she may have been strangled. They claimed that Rajina had been subjected to harassment for a dowry of 50,000 rupees shortly after her marriage to Minhaj, which took place about a year ago. They alleged that she was often beaten when the money was not provided.
Saddam directly accused the in-laws of conspiring to take his sister’s life due to their unmet demands.
Upon receiving the report, the police from the Dhanwar station arrived at the scene, took possession of the body, and sent it for a post-mortem examination. Police officials stated that the exact cause of death would be determined after the post-mortem report is available.
Currently, the police have registered a case based on the family’s complaint and are conducting raids at potential locations to apprehend the absconding husband and other in-laws. Tension has gripped the village following this incident.
