Alert for Rain and Strong Winds in Madhya Pradesh: IMD Issues Warning

Bhopal, May 1: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhopal has released a detailed weather report for Madhya Pradesh, indicating unstable weather conditions. The state is expected to experience rain, thunderstorms, and a drop in temperature.

According to the weather department, light rain or drizzles are likely on May 2 (Saturday) in several districts, accompanied by thunder and lightning. Areas such as Gwalior, Rewa, Jabalpur, and Panna may witness the impact of these weather changes.

In eastern Madhya Pradesh, the districts of Sidhi and Balaghat are forecasted to experience strong winds, potentially reaching speeds of up to 50 kilometers per hour.

In the capital city of Bhopal, the sky may remain partially cloudy. The daytime temperature is expected to be around 39 degrees Celsius, while nighttime temperatures could drop to approximately 23 degrees Celsius.

Over the past 24 hours, a significant drop in temperature has been recorded in various parts of the state. Notably, the maximum temperature in the Rewa and Shahdol divisions decreased by up to 10.3 degrees Celsius. Minimum temperatures also fell, particularly in the Gwalior and Shahdol regions.

Despite this, Khargone remains the hottest district in the state, with a maximum temperature recorded at 42.6 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, Pachmarhi reported the lowest minimum temperature at 17.2 degrees Celsius.

The weather department noted that the current weather system is influenced by several active meteorological factors. A western disturbance is active in the Jammu and Kashmir region, while a cyclonic circulation persists at lower levels over northern Punjab and Gangetic West Bengal.

As a result of these weather systems, widespread rainfall has occurred in the Shahdol, Gwalior, Chambal, and Rewa divisions, with over 30 mm of rain recorded in Tikamgarh and Bhitarwar.

Incidents of hail have been reported in Bhopal, Gwalior, and Singrauli, while dust storms have affected Shivpuri and Damoh.

In the coming week, the maximum temperature may rise by approximately 2 degrees Celsius in the first two days, followed by a potential drop of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius.

Authorities have advised residents to stay indoors during storms and have urged farmers to harvest ripe crops promptly to minimize damage from rain and strong winds.
