Patna, August 13: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has responded strongly to Prashant Kishor, founder of Jan Suraj, who blamed Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary for his recent defeat in the Bankipur by-election. BJP national spokesperson Ajay Alok launched a fierce attack on Kishor, labeling him a “shrewd gentleman” and asserting that the BJP is not a party that wins or loses elections at the behest of the Chief Minister, unlike the Congress.
Alok emphasized that Kishor should first understand the functioning of the BJP and the democratic system. He stated, “This is not Congress’s rule, where elections are won or lost due to the Chief Minister. This is the Bharatiya Janata Party. We believe in democratic values.”
He accused Kishor of engaging in politics for Congress rather than focusing on the issues in Bihar. Alok pointed out that Kishor had previously campaigned in Telangana and Karnataka and is now involved in Bihar’s political landscape.
With a hint of sarcasm, Alok remarked that Kishor’s interest in Bankipur and Bihar’s politics should not be limited to just one election. He challenged Kishor to contest again from Bankipur in the 2030 assembly elections, stating that if Kishor is confident in his political strength, he should announce his candidacy for 2030.
Alok clarified that in the BJP, the Chief Minister does not engage in politics aimed at deliberately defeating any candidate. He claimed that if Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary had wanted, the BJP would not have won even a single booth, but such a political culture does not exist within the BJP.
Recently, Kishor shared his views on the reasons behind the BJP’s defeat in the Bankipur by-election during an interview. He mentioned that the protests from Gen-Z had little impact on the election outcome, attributing the loss to local factors. Kishor stated that not everyone accepts Samrat Chaudhary as the face of the NDA, citing his political track record and educational qualifications as contributing factors.
He further stated that if asked about the primary reason for the BJP’s defeat, he would hold Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary responsible. Kishor noted that previously, voters in Bankipur had supported the BJP against RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, but this time, they saw a reliable alternative in the Jan Suraj Party and Prashant Kishor, which led to the BJP’s setback.
