New Delhi, August 1: Air Marshal Tejpal Singh AVSM, VM has officially taken over as the Deputy Chief of Air Staff (DCAS) of the Indian Air Force. Following his appointment, he paid tribute to the brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation at the National War Memorial.
Commissioned as a fighter pilot on June 16, 1990, Air Marshal Tejpal Singh has amassed over 3,500 flight hours during his more than 36-year military career. He is a Category-A Qualified Flying Instructor and an Experimental Test Pilot.
Throughout his career, he has served in various significant operational, command, and staff positions within the Indian Air Force. For his exceptional services, he was awarded the Vayu Sena Medal (VM) in January 2011 and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) in January 2021 by the President of India.
Air Marshal Tejpal Singh succeeds Air Marshal Avadhesh Kumar Bharti SYSM, AVSM, VM, who retired on July 31, 2026, after a distinguished 39-year military career. The Indian Air Force expressed its gratitude for Air Marshal Bharti’s long and dedicated service to the nation’s security.
In related news, Vice Admiral A.N. Pramod, who played a crucial role in operational preparations during Operation Sindoor, assumed the position of Deputy Chief of Naval Staff on Saturday. He replaces Vice Admiral Tarun Sobti, who retired on Friday after being honored with the Uttam Yudh Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, and Vishisht Seva Medal.
Vice Admiral A.N. Pramod, an alumnus of the 38th Integrated Cadet Course at the Naval Academy in Goa, was commissioned into the Indian Navy on July 1, 1990. He is recognized with the AVSM and Yudh Seva Medal (YSM) and is an expert in ‘Cat A’ Sea King Air Operations and Communication and Electronic Warfare.
With over 36 years of remarkable service, Vice Admiral Pramod has held several key positions in command, operations, training, and staff on both sea and land.
