Air Marshal Tarun Chaudhary Takes Command of Central Air Command

New Delhi, June 1: In a significant leadership change within the Indian Air Force, Air Marshal Tarun Chaudhary assumed the role of Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Central Air Command (CAC) on June 1.

Air Marshal Chaudhary is recognized as one of the experienced fighter pilots in the Indian Air Force. He succeeds Air Marshal Balakrishnan Manikantan, who retired on May 31 after nearly 40 years of distinguished service.

Commissioned into the fighter stream of the Indian Air Force in December 1989, Air Marshal Chaudhary is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy (NDA), Defence Services Staff College, College of Air Warfare, and the National Defence College.

Throughout his extensive military career, he has undertaken various critical operational, staff, and diplomatic responsibilities, both domestically and internationally. Notably, he served as the Defence Attaché at the Indian Embassy in Sweden, where he was also accredited to Norway, Finland, and Denmark.

Additionally, he has held several key positions at the Integrated Defence Staff (IDS) headquarters and the Air Headquarters. During his tenure, he developed expertise in areas such as project management, defence procurement, and human resource management, according to the Defence Ministry.

Air Marshal Chaudhary is credited with leading several transformative programs related to capability building and the integration of modern technologies within the Indian Air Force. He has advanced numerous projects aimed at enhancing the operational capabilities of the air force, keeping future combat requirements in mind.

Prior to taking charge of the Central Air Command, he served as the Senior Air Staff Officer at the Southern Air Command headquarters. Given his extensive experience and strategic vision, this appointment is considered significant for the Indian Air Force.

The Central Air Command is one of the most crucial commands of the Indian Air Force, responsible for air security, strategic readiness, and coordination of various military operations in key areas of the country. Therefore, Air Marshal Tarun Chaudhary’s appointment is viewed as a step towards enhancing the operational capabilities and modernization efforts of the Indian Air Force.
