AIMPLB Condemns Attacks on Iran, Urges India to Play a Balanced Role

New Delhi, March 4: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has strongly condemned the joint attacks on Iran by the United States and Israel. The board expressed deep sorrow over the martyrdom of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, labeling it a significant loss for the Muslim Ummah.

The board has urged the United Nations and the international community to implement an immediate ceasefire and take concrete steps to prevent the region from descending into a larger war. Dr. S.Q.R. Ilyas, the board’s spokesperson, stated in a press release that significant progress had been made in negotiations regarding Iran’s nuclear program with the United States.

Under the mediation of Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi, Iran had accepted most of the U.S. conditions. However, the U.S. abruptly announced the end of negotiations and launched attacks on Iran in collaboration with Israel. Dr. Ilyas described this as merely a pretext for diplomacy, asserting that it constitutes a blatant violation of international law and the United Nations Charter.

Dr. Ilyas characterized Ayatollah Khamenei’s martyrdom as a profound shock to the Muslim world. He emphasized that targeting the central leadership of a sovereign nation and openly discussing regime change is entirely unacceptable. This attack has destabilized the entire Middle East. While some European countries support the U.S., Russia and China stand with Iran. Without immediate diplomatic intervention, this conflict could escalate into a global war. A prolonged conflict would exacerbate humanitarian crises and negatively impact the global economy, with developing and vulnerable nations bearing the brunt.

Dr. Ilyas lamented that India could have played a balanced and respectable mediating role during this delicate time, but the current policy has undermined the credibility of the country’s foreign policy. He also expressed concern that the Indian government did not issue an official condolence message regarding Ayatollah Khamenei’s martyrdom, which contradicts moral and diplomatic traditions.

The board once again appealed to the Indian government, the United Nations, and the international community to take immediate, serious, and practical steps to prevent war. Otherwise, this fire will not remain confined to one region, and no country will be immune to its consequences.
