Beijing, March 5: Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming a significant driving force behind China’s high-quality economic growth. By 2025, the total size of China’s major AI industry is projected to exceed 12 trillion yuan, with over 6,200 enterprises actively operating in this sector. This information was shared by Li Lecheng, China’s Minister of Industry and Information Technology, during a media interview at the “Ministerial Corridor” event held on March 5, during the fourth session of the 14th National People’s Congress.
Li highlighted that the development of AI in China has made remarkable progress in several key areas. He specifically pointed out three major aspects. First, large-scale AI models from China are making their mark globally. Second, AI technology is empowering productivity across various industries. Third, smart devices and intelligent gadgets are becoming an integral part of daily life for the general public.
He also noted that Chinese companies have developed and launched over 300 humanoid robot models, accounting for more than half of the total models available globally.
Li further stated that in 2026, extensive efforts will be made to strengthen the bilateral cooperation between the AI and manufacturing sectors. The “AI + Manufacturing” model will be actively promoted.
