Ahmedabad, May 15: Adani Sportsline has appointed experienced Australian cricket strategist Simon Helmot as the head coach of Gulf Giants ahead of the upcoming season of the UAE International League T20 (ILT20).
Helmot brings over two decades of experience in domestic, international, and franchise cricket. He has worked in several major T20 leagues worldwide. Since 2013, he has been associated with the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Sunrisers Hyderabad, playing a crucial role in leading teams to titles in significant T20 tournaments held in Australia, the Caribbean, and the UAE.
In recent years, he has gained recognition for fostering high-performance team cultures and enhancing players’ abilities under pressure. Before taking on the role of head coach for Gulf Giants, Helmot spent five seasons with the Melbourne Renegades in the Women’s Big Bash League, where he led the team to its first title in 2024.

In his new role with Gulf Giants, Helmot recently met with Pranav Adani, Director of Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL), in Ahmedabad. They discussed the long-term vision for Gulf Giants and the team’s preparations for the upcoming ILT20 season.
