Chennai, August 30: In a thrilling conclusion to the inaugural IAME Series India 2026, Chennai’s Karav Roberson (MSport) emerged victorious in the Senior Class, while Rehan Khan Rashid (Momentum Motorsports) claimed the Junior Class title. The event wrapped up on Sunday at the Madras International Karting Arena (MIKA).
Despite a rain delay, the competition remained unaffected, concluding the fifth and final round late Saturday night.
This year’s event marked the first-ever day-night competitive karting organized by the Madras Motor Sports Club (MMSC). The track conditions were challenging due to water accumulation and slippery surfaces, but young drivers, particularly in the Mini and Mini Under-10 categories, faced these obstacles head-on. However, the number of laps in the finals for all classes was reduced after the race resumed.
Shiv Neel from Coimbatore (NKRA by KKMS) won the Mini category, while young driver Aruthran Prabhu from Kumarapuram (CartCrew Motorsports) took the Under-10 class title. Shiv is the son of India’s first Formula One driver, Narain Karthikeyan.
All four overall winners secured their spots in the IAME Asia Finals, scheduled for December 11-13, 2026, in Macau.
The team titles were claimed by CartCrew Motorsports (Senior and Under-10), Momentum Motorsports (Junior), and NKRA by KKMS (Mini). Karav Roberson easily won the Super Heat and subsequently topped the finals without significant challenge.
Rehan Khan Rashid solidified his Junior Class title by finishing second in the Super Heat behind Pune’s Abhishek Barse (Crest Motorsports). Following the rain, Rehan showcased exceptional driving skills on the wet track to clinch victory in the finals.
After a lengthy rain delay, the Junior category race commenced first. The slippery track tested the drivers; some slipped and spun out, but Rehan maintained his composure to secure a remarkable win.
Shiv Neel had to work hard to win his overall title in the Mini Class. He narrowly defeated Rudra Gokulnath in the Super Heat and strengthened his lead before the finals. Rudra avenged that loss in the finals, but Shiv Neel finished second, accumulating enough points to win the title.
Conversely, Aruthran Prabhu secured his Under-10 class title, even after finishing second to Ayansh Patil in the Super Heat. This second-place finish gave Aruthran a significant advantage over Ayansh before the finals. In the final race, Aruthran’s performance was exceptional, allowing him to win his class without facing any major challenges.
