Goa, February 26: Authorities in Goa have intensified their campaign against foreign nationals residing illegally and violating immigration laws. Recently, six Bangladeshi citizens were deported back to their country after being found living without valid visas and passports.

Officials reported that this operation was conducted on Wednesday by the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) in Goa, in collaboration with the Border Security Force (BSF). The FRRO escort team handed over the six illegal Bangladeshi individuals to the BSF, which subsequently sent them back to Bangladesh.

Since 2025, the foreign branch of Goa police has identified 35 illegal Bangladeshi nationals and returned them to their homeland. This group included nine men, seven women, and 19 minors.

Goa police stated that actions against illegal entries and overstayers are being coordinated with the FRRO and other relevant agencies. They urged the public to verify the documents of tenants and laborers and report any suspicious cases to the nearest police station or the foreign branch.

In a similar effort, Bengaluru police launched a major operation across the city, questioning over 2,000 foreigners and detaining dozens of suspected illegal Bangladeshi migrants for verification. This follows a previous operation in January, where 26 individuals were arrested in areas like Electronic City and Hebbagodi.

Additionally, a similar anti-immigration operation took place in Mumbai on Wednesday. The Versova police arrested 25 Bangladeshi nationals living illegally in the Yari Road area, including 21 transgender individuals, two women, and two men. All were found residing without valid documentation near the Shakulsaha Dargah.
